Nu jullie vele prachtige inzendingen binnen zijn, is het weer bijna tijd om de nieuwe editie te vieren op onze launch party op 13 mei @lokaal_talent!
Om 20:00 gaan we van start met onze open mic! Zin om iets voor te dragen? Grappig (of een poging tot), kort, gezongen, alleen of in groep,… alles onder 5 minuten is welkom. ❤️
Om 21:30 zet de vierkoppige rockband @silver.virgin het feestje in gang met vervormde gitaren, explosieve drums, geschreeuw en een zachte zangstem. 💥
DJ’s @antares.sub en @distek_ sluiten de avond b2b af met een energetische set met veel breaks, beats en bass . Ook projecteren zij unieke live visuals!
Nogmaals merci voor de inzendingen! We maken er een schitterende lente-editie van, en we zien jullie terug op de launch party!! 🌟🐥

At 9:30 PM, rock band @silver.virgin will kick off the party with distorted guitars, explosive drums, screaming, and soft vocals. 💥
DJs @antares.sub and @distek_ will close out the evening b2b with a diverse set, with a lot of breaks, beats and bass. They’ll also project unique live visuals!
Thanks again for all the submissions! We’re going to make this a fantastic spring edition, and we’ll see you at the launch party!! 🌟🐥

Maud Vanhauwaert is a versatile Flemish poet and performer, known for her playful, accessible yet profound poetry. She has won several literary prizes and served as city poet of Antwerp from 2018 to 2019, during which she literally brought poetry into the city through surprising public space projects. In addition to her work as a poet, she is also a theatre-maker and teacher, constantly seeking new ways to combine language and performance.

Lennie Verschoren is a Belgian stand-up comedian from Antwerp. In his work, he combines anecdotes from his colourful life with sharp observations about our absurdly ordinary society.
Brakwater is the musical hangover you didn’t see coming. Sprung from the dregs of your last pint, this band throws a cocktail of manic post-punk and rusty garage noise in your face. Think of a drunken street philosopher alternating existential rants with ear-splitting screams, while an unhinged rhythm section provides the soundtrack to a pub brawl between poetry and pure madness. Filthy, unpredictable, and just charming enough to leave you wondering whether to dance or take cover.
As flammable as a match in an oil pit: that’s House of Matties, an Antwerp-based DJ with Icelandic roots. He explores a different way of ‘going hard’. Not through relentless pounding, but with a mix of tech-house, the complex rhythms of garage, and the speed of trance, he sets every party ablaze. Thanks to diverse vocals and playful melodies, his fiery style gains even more character, keeping listeners on their toes.

Backpage’s third launch party is official! Join us on the 14th of May at Het Bos for a night filled with poetry and music.
The event, which is centred around the Spring ’25 edition of the magazine, is supported by a variety of acts: an interview with writer/poet Maud Vanhauwaert, a comedy show hosted by UAntwerp’s very own Lennert Verschoren, and a musical performance by Antwerp garage punk band Brakwater. Finally, to close the evening, House of Matties will deliver a DJ set that will make you want to stay.
Worried you can’t make it? No worries! The event will be live-streamed on the WeAreVarious radio station!

All forms of visual art are welcome, with high-resolution PNG files preferred. You may submit up to 5 pieces in any combination of prose, poetry, or visual art.

Schriftelijke werken mogen een maximum van 1.500 woorden bevatten. Als je een fragment uit een langer werk indient, kun je gerust informatie toevoegen over waar lezers het volledige werk kunnen vinden. We overwegen alle vormen van beeldende kunst. Hoge resolutie .png-bestanden zijn het beste. Het maximaal aantal inzendingen zijn 5 inzendingen per persoon (in elke combinatie van proza, poëzie of beeldende kunst).
Om in te zenden, stuur een e-mail met je naam en school naar backpage.ua@gmail.com met als onderwerp “LENTE 25 INZENDING” en de bestanden in de bijlage. Label bestanden als “TITELVANHETWERK_PROZA/POËZIE/KUNST” zonder je naam in het document te vermelden.
